Glacier National Park located in the northwest corner of Montana and its sister park, Waterton Lakes National Park across the border in Canada both are designated International Biosphere Reserves and together were recognized in 1995 as a World Heritage Site.
There are a few dozen glaciers still remaining in the parks but they are rapidly disappearing. It is a wild dramatic landscape where the mountains have steep sides carved by the glaciers. There are wonderful hiking trails but even from the roads there are spectacular views and many animals can frequently be seen including mountain goats, big horn sheep, deer and bear.
